How to Turn Dirt into Mud with This Mod (and Why It Might Not Work)
The Dirt-to-Mud Feature
Besides concrete, the mod can convert dirt blocks into mud using the same throw-into-water method. However, this feature is disabled by default in the configuration, so many players find it does nothing at first.
Enabling It
1. Locate the mod's config file in your instance's config folder.
2. Open it and find the option controlling the dirt-to-mud conversion.
3. Change it from disabled to enabled and save the file.
4. Restart Minecraft so the change takes effect.
Using It
Once enabled, the process mirrors concrete conversion:
1. Hold dirt blocks in your hand.
2. Aim at water and press your drop key (default Q).
3. The dropped dirt converts into mud when it touches the water.
4. Collect the mud items.
Troubleshooting
- If dirt still does nothing in water, double-check you edited the correct config and restarted the game.
- On a server, the config must be changed server-side, not just on your client.
- Remember this is optional — leaving it off keeps vanilla dirt behavior intact, which some pack authors prefer.
