Combine Protection Enchantments Using an Anvil

Preparing Your Armor

Gather two armor pieces of the same type (both chestplates, both helmets, etc.). Each should have a different protection enchantment already applied. For example, one with Fire Protection and another with Blast Protection.

Anvil Merging Process

1. Place an anvil in your world

2. Open the anvil interface

3. Put the first armor piece (with one protection type) in the left slot

4. Put the second armor piece (with a different protection type) in the right slot

5. The result will display in the output slot with both enchantments combined

6. Collect your merged armor piece

Important Notes

The anvil will consume both input pieces and produce one output piece. You'll spend experience levels based on the enchantment levels and prior repair history of the items.

If one piece has multiple enchantments already, merging will preserve all of them and add the new protection type from the second piece. This makes the anvil ideal for progressively building up a fully-protected armor set.
