How to Use the Compass Effectively During a Chase
Keep Your Compass Accessible
Store your compass in an easy-to-reach inventory slot. You'll be right-clicking it frequently during the hunt, so quick access saves time when you need to update directions mid-chase.
Right-Click Regularly for Fresh Updates
The compass doesn't update automatically—you must right-click it to refresh the runner's location. Update it every few seconds during active pursuit, especially if the runner is moving quickly or changing direction.
Read the Compass Direction
After right-clicking, the compass needle will point toward the runner's current location. Follow the direction it indicates. Remember that the compass shows direction, not distance, so you'll need to navigate terrain and obstacles to actually close the gap.
Anticipate Runner Movement
Don't just follow the compass blindly. Experienced runners will try to lose you by changing direction or using terrain tricks. Use the compass as a guide, but also predict where they might go next—toward water, through caves, or toward their objective.
Work with Other Hunters
Share compass updates with teammates. If multiple hunters are pursuing the same runner, coordinate your approach to cut off escape routes and tighten the net.
