Compass Manhunt Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I give a hunter the tracking compass?
The compass is crafted like a standard Minecraft compass. Once a hunter has it in their inventory and right-clicks it, the compass will point toward the nearest speedrunner in the game.
Can I track a specific runner if there are multiple people running?
Yes. Right-click the compass multiple times to cycle through different runners; it will point to whichever runner you've selected on the compass.
What happens to my compass when I die as a hunter?
The compass persists after death and stays in your inventory when you respawn, so you can immediately resume tracking without losing your tool.
Do speedrunners know when they're being tracked?
The mod does not send alerts to runners—they only know they're being hunted if they see the hunters or if you tell them. The compass is purely a hunter tool.
Can the compass point through walls and caves?
Yes, the compass points directly toward the runner's location regardless of terrain or obstacles between you, so you'll need to navigate to reach them.
What if a runner goes to the Nether or End?
The compass will not track runners across dimensions; you must follow them to the same dimension for the compass to point toward them again.
Can I use this mod on a multiplayer server?
Yes, the mod works on servers. All players need the mod installed, and the server does not require special configuration beyond having the mod present.
Does the compass work if the runner is far away?
The compass points toward runners regardless of distance, so it works across the entire world as long as both the hunter and runner are loaded in the same dimension.
Can I give multiple hunters their own compass?
Yes, each hunter can have a compass, and each one will independently track runners when right-clicked.
What if a runner logs out or leaves the game?
The compass will no longer point toward that runner once they disconnect; if there are other runners, cycling the compass will show the next available target.
