Compact Structural Decoration Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I place a carpet under a torch without breaking it?
Hold a carpet in your hand, aim at the bottom area of the torch, and right-click. The carpet will place in the same block space as the torch, and both will remain intact.
Can I stack multiple decorations in one block space?
Yes, up to 64 compatible block parts can fit in a single block cell by default. Hold Shift and right-click the top surface of an existing placed block to add another piece on top of it.
How do I hang a lantern from the ceiling?
Hold a lantern in your hand, hold Shift, and right-click the bottom of the block above where you want it to hang. The lantern will suspend in that space.
What happens when water and lava meet inside a composite block?
They create an obsidian-logged part in that shared space. You can toggle whether this reaction happens with the `/gamerule no_more_gap:do_lava_logging_reactions` command.
How do I remove just one piece from a stacked block without breaking everything?
Aim directly at the specific piece you want to remove and mine it. Only that individual part will break; the rest of the composite block stays intact.
Do redstone signals pass through composite blocks?
Yes, redstone power transmits through composite block spaces without interruption, so you can build compact redstone contraptions without gaps.
Can I waterlog or lava-log decorations like flowers and lanterns?
Yes, use a water or lava bucket directly on the target piece to fill or empty it. Compatible pieces include plants, torches, lanterns, doors, and copper bulbs.
Why is my composite block rendering slowly or not showing all pieces?
Check the `composite_render_distance_chunks` setting in your config; if it's set to 0, it uses the standard game render distance. Lowering this value can improve performance on older machines.
Can I change the maximum number of parts allowed per block?
Yes, use the command `/gamerule no_more_gap:max_composite_parts ` to set a custom limit, or edit `max_composite_parts_default` in the config file.
Will snow automatically place under plants in my world?
Only in cold biomes if the `snowy_vegetation_generation` setting is enabled in your config. You can also manually place snow layers under vegetation yourself.
