Compact Help Command Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the new paginated help menu?
Just run /help like you normally would. The mod intercepts the vanilla command and shows the first alphabetical page of commands instead of the full list.
How do I go to the next page of commands?
Run /help followed by the page number, for example /help 2. The output tells you which page you are on and how many pages exist.
Why does /help only show a few commands at a time?
That is the pagination feature working as intended. The number of commands per page is controlled by the amountCommandsPerPage setting, which you can raise if you want more entries visible at once.
How do I see details for one specific command?
Use /help , for example /help tp. The mod reformats the output so the usage, aliases, and description are easier to read than in vanilla.
My /help output has no colors, how do I turn them on?
Colors are controlled by the commandColour and subcommandColour config options. If they were set to a color that matches your chat background, or the config was reset, change them to a contrasting color and reload.
Can I make commands show up in a different color than subcommands?
Yes. commandColour handles the top-level command names and subcommandColour handles the nested ones, so you can pick two distinct colors to tell them apart at a glance.
How many commands can I fit on one page?
The amountCommandsPerPage setting accepts values from 1 up to 50. The default is 8, which keeps each page readable on a normal chat window.
I changed the config but /help still looks the same, what went wrong?
Most config changes need a game restart or a config reload to take effect. Also double-check you edited the right file, since some mod loaders keep a separate client and server config.
Does this mod break other mods that add /help subcommands?
No. It only reformats how the command list is displayed, so commands registered by other mods still appear in the paginated output and remain fully usable.
Will this mod hurt my performance on a big modpack?
No noticeable impact. It only runs when you type /help, sorting and coloring the command list on demand rather than doing anything in the background.
