ComBit Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the 1.8.9 combat preset?
Open the mod config menu (usually accessible via mod settings or in-game config screen) and look for the preset or quick-load option labeled for 1.8.9 combat. Selecting it will automatically apply the classic combat settings including disabled cooldowns and adjusted I-frames.
What's the difference between disabling I-frames and adjusting cooldowns?
I-frames (invincibility frames) are the brief period after you take damage where you can't be hit again—disabling them means you take damage more frequently. Cooldowns control how fast you can swing your weapon; adjusting them makes combat faster or slower without changing damage vulnerability.
Can I disable I-frames but keep cooldowns normal?
Yes, every setting in ComBit is independent and optional. You can toggle I-frames off while leaving cooldown settings at their defaults, or mix and match any combination of features.
Will changing combat settings affect my world difficulty or mob behavior?
ComBit only modifies player and entity combat mechanics like damage timing and attack speed—it doesn't change mob AI, spawn rates, or world difficulty settings, so your world will play the same otherwise.
Do these settings work in multiplayer servers?
ComBit is a client-side mod, so your settings only affect your own combat experience; they won't change how other players or the server perceive your attacks, and servers won't reject you for having it installed.
Can I customize individual weapon damage values?
ComBit lets you adjust overall attack strength and health values through its config, but for per-weapon damage tweaking you may need to combine it with other mods or use datapacks.
What happens if I enable all combat changes at once?
Enabling all features together (no I-frames, no cooldowns, custom damage) creates very fast, aggressive combat similar to older Minecraft versions or heavily modded PvP servers—test it in a safe world first to see if it suits your playstyle.
Do I need to restart my game after changing ComBit settings?
Most ComBit settings take effect immediately or after rejoining your world; check the mod's config screen for any settings that specifically require a full game restart.
Will ComBit cause lag or performance issues?
ComBit is lightweight and only modifies combat calculations, so it shouldn't noticeably impact performance; if you experience issues, they're more likely caused by other mods or your system.
Can I use ComBit alongside PvP mods or other combat mods?
ComBit generally plays well with other mods, but combining multiple combat-altering mods can cause conflicts or unpredictable behavior—test your mod combination in a test world first.
