How to Roll and Dodge Attacks in Combat Roll Mod
Performing a Roll
Press the roll key (default R) while moving to dash in that direction. The direction you roll follows your current movement input, so holding forward rolls you forward, holding back rolls you backward, and strafing rolls you sideways. If you press the key while standing still, you roll in the direction you are facing.
Rolling gives you a brief burst of speed and, crucially, i-frames (invulnerability frames) during part of the animation. Time a roll into an incoming attack — a creeper explosion, a skeleton arrow, a melee swing — so the damage window overlaps with your roll. Rolling too early means you finish the animation before the hit lands; rolling too late means you eat the damage.
Managing the Cooldown
Watch for the cooldown indicator (a small icon near your crosshair or hotbar depending on your HUD setup) so you know when the roll is ready.
If you roll into a wall or tight corner, you may not travel far — the roll still triggers and still costs cooldown, so avoid wasting it. Practice chaining rolls with normal sprinting and jumping so you keep momentum between dodges.
