Fixing Tooltip Colors That Won't Change or Look Wrong
Check the config path and format
The most common cause of a color not applying is an incorrect file location or a malformed value. Make sure you are editing config/coloredtooltips-client.toml inside the correct instance folder, not a different profile's config. Then confirm the value is a valid ARGB hex string: two characters for alpha followed by six for RGB, with no spaces, quotes, or extra characters. An invalid string is silently ignored, so the default color remains.
Restart and re-test
This is a client-side config read when the game starts, so changes will not appear until you fully close and relaunch Minecraft. After restarting, test by hovering over items and opening menus that show tooltips, such as the creative inventory tabs. If only some tooltips changed, remember the mod only affects tooltips drawn through Forge's tooltip rendering code, so a few custom GUIs from other mods may keep their own colors.
Rule out conflicts
If the color still will not change, another mod that overrides tooltip rendering could be taking priority. Temporarily test with only Coloured Tooltips enabled to see whether the setting works, then re-enable mods one at a time. Also verify you saved the file in a plain-text editor rather than one that adds formatting. Restoring the original value or deleting the config to let it regenerate is a quick way to reset if you lose track of your edits.
