Which Blocks Can You Recolor with the Colorize Mod

Supported Block Families

Colorize targets blocks that already have multiple color variants in vanilla Minecraft. If a block exists in several dye colors, it is almost certainly supported. Common examples include:

  • Wool, carpets, and beds
  • Banners
  • Concrete and concrete powder
  • Terracotta, including glazed terracotta
  • Stained glass and stained glass panes
  • Candles
  • Shulker boxes

How to Check a Block

If you are unsure whether a specific block is supported, the fastest test is to hold a dye and right-click it in a safe spot.

1. Place one of the block in an open area.

2. Hold any dye.

3. Right-click the block.

4. If the color changes, the block is supported. If nothing happens and no dye is consumed, it is not a colorable block.

Edge Cases

Some blocks have a right-click function of their own. Beds, shulker boxes, and similar interactive blocks may open a menu instead of recoloring. In those cases, sneak while right-clicking to force the colorize action. Blocks with no vanilla color variants, such as plain stone or oak planks, will not respond to dye at all. Keep a small palette of dyes on hand so you can test and recolor in one trip rather than running back to a chest.
