Colorize Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start recoloring blocks with the Colorize Mod?
Hold any dye in your hand and right-click the block you want to change. The block instantly takes on the dye's color without needing a crafting table.
Do I need to sneak while right-clicking with dye?
No, a normal right-click works for most blocks. Sneaking is only useful when you want to avoid accidentally interacting with a block that has its own right-click function, like a bed or shulker box.
Which blocks can I recolor with the Colorize Mod?
Any vanilla block that already has color variants works, including wool, carpets, concrete, concrete powder, terracotta, glazed terracotta, stained glass, glass panes, candles, banners, beds, and shulker boxes.
Can I recolor a block back to its original color?
Yes, just right-click it with the dye matching the color you want. There is no separate undo, so simply apply the correct dye to change it again.
Does right-clicking with dye use up the dye?
Yes, each right-click consumes one dye item from your stack, the same as if you had used it in a crafting recipe.
Why isn't my dye changing the block when I right-click?
The block probably doesn't have a color variant in vanilla, or you're in creative mode where some interactions behave differently. Make sure you're holding dye and targeting a recolorable block, not air or an unsupported block.
Can I recolor beds and shulker boxes without breaking them?
Yes, that's one of the mod's main conveniences. Right-click the placed bed or shulker box with dye and it changes color in place, keeping its contents and position.
How do I recolor a large build quickly?
You still right-click each block individually, but you can hold a full stack of dye and move along a wall or floor without opening any menus. For very large areas, work in rows so you don't miss blocks.
Does the Colorize Mod work with other building or decoration mods?
It only affects blocks that have vanilla color variants, so blocks added by other mods generally won't respond to dye unless that mod specifically supports it. Test on a single block before recoloring a whole build.
Does recoloring blocks with dye cause lag or performance issues?
No, each recolor is a single block update, similar to placing a block, so it has negligible impact on performance even across large builds.
