Recoloring Large Builds Efficiently with Colorize

Plan Your Dye Supply

Because each right-clicked block consumes one dye, large projects need bulk dye. Before you start, gather enough dye for the whole area. Estimate the block count of the wall, floor, or roof you are changing and craft or gather at least that many dyes, plus a buffer for mistakes.

Work in a Grid

Recoloring is fastest when you move in a predictable pattern so you never miss a block.

1. Stand at one corner of the area and face the wall or floor.

2. Recolor a horizontal row by right-clicking each block in sequence.

3. Step to the next row and repeat, working top to bottom or left to right.

4. Periodically step back and check for missed blocks, which are easy to spot as off-color patches.

Tips for Speed

  • Keep the dye in the same hotbar slot the whole time so you never fumble for it.
  • Recolor from a distance where your reach still hits the block, reducing walking.
  • For floors, look slightly downward and sweep in straight lines.
  • If you run out of dye mid-row, note where you stopped so you can resume cleanly.
  • Combine with scaffolding or a temporary platform when recoloring high walls, so you can reach every block without climbing.

This approach turns a tedious crafting-and-placing job into a quick sweep with a single dye stack.
