Use biome water color to tint light

How water affects light color

This mod uses each biome's natural water color to gently tint light that passes through water blocks. Different biomes have different water hues, creating region-specific lighting atmospheres.

Applying water-tinted light

1. Place a light source underwater or behind water blocks

2. The light will be tinted by the water color of that biome

3. Warm biomes (deserts, jungles) produce warmer water tints

4. Cold biomes (frozen areas, deep ocean) produce cooler, bluer tints

5. Swamps and mangroves create greenish or murky light tints

Creative applications

  • Build underwater structures and use water tinting to create immersive bioluminescent lighting
  • Create themed areas by building in different biomes to get their unique water-tinted light
  • Combine water tinting with stained glass for layered color effects
  • Use water-tinted light to enhance the atmosphere of underwater bases or aquariums
  • Experiment with placing light sources at different water depths for varying intensity and color
