Create deep shadows with light-absorbing blocks
Understanding light absorption
Some blocks in this mod can absorb colored light, preventing it from spreading further and creating darker, more dramatic shadows. This adds depth and contrast to your lighting design.
Finding and using absorbing blocks
1. Dark blocks like obsidian, dark prismarine, and blackstone naturally absorb more light
2. Place these blocks strategically between light sources and areas you want to keep dark
3. The absorbed light creates a sharp shadow boundary rather than gradual fading
4. Combine absorbing blocks with colored light sources to create colored shadow effects
Building with absorption
- Use absorbing blocks to frame or highlight specific areas
- Create contrast by placing bright colored light near dark absorbing blocks
- Build underground structures where light absorption creates natural-looking cave shadows
- Layer absorbing blocks to create graduated darkness and add visual interest to interiors
