Comparing Enchantment Quality Between Similar Items
Visual Comparison at a Glance
When you have multiple versions of the same item type (like two diamond pickaxes), the color system helps you instantly identify which one has superior enchantments.
Comparison Process
Step 1: Place both items in your inventory or crafting grid where you can see them side-by-side.
Step 2: Hover over the first item and note the colors and number of enchantment lines in its tooltip.
Step 3: Hover over the second item and compare:
- Does it have more colored lines (more enchantments)?
- Are the colors the same, or does one have additional colors?
- Do the enchantments appear in the same order?
Step 4: The item with more colors or more densely-packed colored text typically has better enchantments.
Step 5: Keep the superior item and store or discard the weaker one.
This is especially useful when choosing between enchanted gear from different sources—dungeon loot, fishing catches, or villager trades. Instead of reading every enchantment name individually, the visual density and color variety tell you which item is worth keeping. This method works for armor sets, tools, weapons, and any other enchanted equipment.
