Color Enchantment Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know which color means what enchantment type?
Each color in the mod corresponds to a specific item category: red for swords, gold for crossbows, aqua for armor, light purple for tools, blue for fishing rods, yellow for bows, dark aqua for tridents, dark gray for maces, dark red for curses, and green for general enchantments that work across multiple item types. You can reference the color guide in the mod description or check your tooltips in-game to learn the system quickly.
Do the colors change the actual enchantment effects or just how they look?
The colors are purely visual and only affect how enchantment names appear in tooltips and item descriptions. All enchantment mechanics, power levels, and functionality remain completely unchanged.
Why do some of my enchantments not have colors?
Enchantments that don't fit into the main categories (swords, armor, tools, etc.) are typically colored green as general enchantments. If an enchantment appears uncolored, it may be from another mod that the resource pack doesn't have a category for—the pack only colors enchantments it has explicit color rules for.
Can I customize the colors myself?
Yes, resource packs are customizable; you can edit the color values in the pack files if you have basic knowledge of resource pack structure. However, the exact method depends on how the mod organizes its color data—check the pack's file structure or documentation for the specific location of color definitions.
Does this mod work with other resource packs?
If another resource pack also modifies enchantment tooltips, there may be conflicts depending on load order. Generally, place the Color Enchantment Resource Pack lower in your resource pack list to give it priority, or check if the other pack is compatible with tooltip modifications.
Will this slow down my game or affect performance?
No, resource packs are client-side only and have minimal performance impact since they only change textures and text rendering. You should see no noticeable FPS loss from using this mod.
How does this help me sort loot faster?
By color-coding enchantments by item type, you can instantly scan a stack of items and identify which ones are useful for swords, armor, tools, etc., without reading every tooltip individually. This is especially helpful when sorting through large quantities of enchanted gear from dungeons or fishing.
Do curse enchantments get a special color so I can avoid them?
Yes, curses are colored dark red, making them visually distinct and easy to spot and avoid when sorting or organizing your inventory.
Does this work in multiplayer servers?
Yes, since this is a client-side resource pack, it works on any server without requiring the server to have the mod installed. Only you will see the colored enchantments.
What if I'm colorblind—can I still use this effectively?
The mod relies on color differentiation, so players with certain types of colorblindness may find some colors hard to distinguish. Consider checking if a colorblind-friendly version exists, or test the colors in-game to see if the contrast works for your vision.
