Cobblemon Modular Poke Balls FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I craft the
Modular Ball Workbench?
Gather colored apricorns, an iron ingot, and a regular crafting table, then combine them in a crafting grid to create the workbench block. Place it down and right-click to open the interface where you'll assemble your custom balls.
What's the difference between the ball tiers?
Each tier uses a different core material (copper, iron, gold, diamond, netherite, or nether star) that determines the catch rate multiplier, ranging from 1× for Poké Balls up to guaranteed capture for Master Balls. Higher tiers are harder to obtain but catch Pokémon more reliably.
Can I change the colors of my ball after I make it?
Yes—place your finished ball into the core slot of the workbench to display it, then swap out any of the lid, rim, button, or base apricorns to redesign it without losing your progress.
How do I make new apricorn colors?
Combine base apricorns with dyes in a regular crafting grid to create new colored variants. The mod includes 7 base colors and 9 craftable dyed versions for a total of 16 color options.
Do my custom ball colors stay the same in battles and menus?
Yes—your custom colors persist everywhere: in your hand, inventory, PC boxes, party screen, and even during toss animations, so your design stays consistent throughout gameplay.
What happens if I break the
Modular Ball Workbench?
The workbench drops safely when mined, and all apricorns and materials stored inside are also dropped as items so you don't lose anything.
Can I see what catch rate my ball has before I take it out?
Hold Shift while hovering over a finished ball in the output slot to view its catch rate and recipe colors in the tooltip.
Is there a 3D preview of my ball design?
Yes—a 3D floating preview appears above the workbench as you add apricorns to each slot, so you can see your design before finalizing it.
Can I use modular balls with other Cobblemon features?
Modular balls function as standard Poké Balls in all Cobblemon mechanics—they work in battles, catching, and storage just like regular balls, but with your custom colors and chosen catch rate tier.
Do I need to find apricorns or can I farm them?
Apricorns grow naturally in the world and can be harvested; you can also combine base apricorns with dyes in a crafting grid to create the specific colors you need for your designs.
