How to Start Pokémon Battles With /battle and /pokebattle

The mod adds two ways to fight: player-versus-player battles and forced wild battles. Both are started with a single command.

Challenging another player

Run /battle <player> to challenge someone to a PVP Pokémon battle. The other player is pulled into the battle against you. Use this when you both agree to fight — it's the standard way to settle a duel or run a tournament match.

Forcing a wild battle

Run /pokebattle to throw a player into a battle against their own wild Pokémon. This is typically used by server staff or for events, since it doesn't require the target to agree. The battle is against a wild Pokémon rather than another trainer.

Checking IVs mid-battle

While a battle is running, use /pokeivs to view the IVs of every Pokémon currently in the fight. This is useful for judging whether a wild Pokémon is worth catching, or for seeing how your opponent's team is built.

Before you fight

  • Make sure your party is healed — a battle you start while fainted won't go well.
  • Use /pokesee or /pokeseeother to scout first.
  • Confirm with the other player before using /battle, since it pulls them in immediately.

/pokebattle is best reserved for staff or agreed-upon events, since it doesn't ask the target first.
