How to Tell Regular and Ancient Poké Rods Apart in 3D
Both rod families get 3D models from this pack, and they keep the exact colors of their original sprites. That means the fastest way to identify which rod you are holding is by color and silhouette, not by reading a tooltip.
Compare the Shapes
Hold each rod in first-person view and rotate your character. The regular rods use the standard chunky shape you expect from the modern fishing tools. The ancient rods use a matching 3D form but retain their older color scheme. Because the pack preserves the original palette, an ancient rod will not suddenly look like a regular one.
Use the Hotbar Preview
Place both rods in your hotbar and look at the item icons. The 3D models render in the inventory and hotbar too, so you can compare them side by side without equipping each one.
Why This Matters
When you are sorting a chest full of rods or deciding which to bring on a fishing trip, color is your quickest cue. If two rods look identical in shape, the color difference is the giveaway. Keep regular and ancient rods in separate chests or shulker boxes so you never grab the wrong one mid-session.
