CobbleGen Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using CobbleGen?
Install the mod, then locate your cobblegen.toml config file in your world or server folder. Open it to see the default generator setup, or edit it to customize how your cobblestone, basalt, and stone generators produce blocks. Use /reload to apply changes without restarting.
Can I make my cobblestone generator produce different blocks randomly?
Yes. In cobblegen.toml, add multiple block entries under the generator with different weights—higher weight means higher chance. For example, you can set cobblestone at weight 70 and deepslate at weight 30 to get a mix of both.
What's the difference between cobblegen.toml and cobblegen-meta.toml?
Cobblegen.toml defines your actual generators and what blocks they produce. cobblegen-meta.toml controls CobbleGen's overall behavior and settings. Most customization happens in cobblegen.toml.
How do I reset my generator config to default?
Delete your cobblegen.toml file and run /reload or restart your world/server. The mod will regenerate a fresh default config file.
Can I have different settings for basalt and stone generators?
Yes. Each generator has its own entry in cobblegen.toml with a unique id (like minecraft:basalt or minecraft:stone). Configure each one separately with different blocks and weights.
Do I need to restart my server to change generator settings?
No. Edit your config file and run /reload (or /cobblegen reload-meta for meta config only) to apply changes instantly without closing your world or server.
What happens if I set a weight to 0?
A block with weight 0 will never be generated by that generator. Use this to disable specific blocks without removing them from the config.
Can CobbleGen work with other mods that add custom generators?
CobbleGen only affects the vanilla cobblestone, basalt, and stone generators. Other mods' custom generators are separate and won't be affected by CobbleGen's configuration.
Why isn't my generator producing the blocks I configured?
Check that your syntax in cobblegen.toml is correct, that the block IDs are valid, and that you've run /reload after saving. If using a multiplayer server, make sure all players have the mod installed.
Does CobbleGen affect performance or server lag?
CobbleGen is lightweight and only modifies block generation when generators are actively used. It should have minimal impact on performance.
