Prevent Coal Explosions When Using Torches for Light

The Problem

Torches are a common light source while mining, but they trigger coal explosions in this mod. This creates a dangerous situation in coal-rich caves and mines.

Use Alternative Light Sources

Replace torches with light sources that won't trigger explosions:

• Lanterns (if available in your modpack)
• Glowstone
• Sea lanterns
• Amethyst blocks or other ambient light blocks
• Jack o'lanterns

These alternatives provide visibility without the explosion risk.

Mining Strategy

1. Before entering a coal-rich area, switch your light source from torches to a safe alternative

2. Place your chosen light blocks strategically around the mining area

3. Mine coal normally with a safe pickaxe (wooden or diamond)

4. Once you've finished, you can retrieve your light blocks

Plan Ahead

If you're planning an extended mining operation, bring extra safe light sources. This prevents the need to place torches in emergencies and keeps your mining operation explosion-free.
