Using Outside Mode to Control Player and Camera at the Same Time

What Outside Mode Does

Normally a camera mod detaches you from your player, leaving you as a floating viewpoint. CMDCam's outside mode changes that: your player stays active and controllable while the camera operates separately. This means you can walk, mine, place blocks, and fight while the camera captures the scene from a different angle.

Enabling It

Toggle outside mode from the CMDCam control panel. Once active, your normal movement keys still move your player. The camera position is controlled independently — either by a keyframe path you have set up, or by manual camera controls depending on your configuration. Check your keybinds so you know which keys move the camera versus the player, because they are separate.

Practical Uses

This is ideal for cinematic recordings where you want to appear in the shot. Set the camera to a fixed vantage point, enable outside mode, then walk your player through the frame. You can also interact with the world — open chests, place blocks, trigger mechanisms — while the camera watches. Combine it with a slow keyframe path for a tracking shot that follows your player without any post-editing.
