CMDCam Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the CMDCam camera controls in-game?
Press the mod's assigned hotkey to toggle the camera interface and enter camera mode. If nothing happens, check your keybind settings and rebind it, since it may conflict with another mod's key.
How do I start recording a camera path?
Enter camera mode, position the camera where you want the shot to begin, and add your first keyframe. Then move the camera to the next position and add another keyframe; the mod interpolates the movement between them.
What is the difference between camera mode and outside mode?
Camera mode detaches the view so you fly the camera freely while your player stands still. Outside mode lets you keep controlling your player while the camera follows separately, so you can walk, build, or interact while filming.
How do I zoom in and out with CMDCam?
Use the mod's zoom control, which works by adjusting the camera's field of view rather than moving it closer. This is the same mechanism used for camera roll, so zoom and roll share the same control style.
Why does my camera path look jerky instead of smooth?
Jerky paths usually come from too few keyframes or from keyframes placed too far apart with sharp direction changes. Add intermediate keyframes at turns and slow-down points so the interpolation has more data to work with.
Can I interact with the world while the camera is active?
Yes, outside mode is specifically designed for this. You can break blocks, place blocks, and use items while the camera is running, which is useful for recording builds or tutorials from a separate angle.
How do I make the camera roll or tilt for a cinematic effect?
Use the camera roll control to rotate the view around its forward axis. Apply it gradually across several keyframes rather than all at once, otherwise the roll looks like a sudden snap.
Does CMDCam work on a server or only in singleplayer?
It works in singleplayer and on servers, but camera behavior can be limited by server-side movement checks or anticheat plugins. If the camera stutters or snaps back on a server, that is usually the cause rather than the mod itself.
Will CMDCam conflict with other camera or replay mods?
Camera mods often fight over the same view control and keybinds, so running two at once can cause flickering or unresponsive controls. Disable other camera mods while using CMDCam, or at minimum rebind their keys apart.
Does recording a long camera path hurt performance?
Long paths with many keyframes are lightweight because they are just stored positions, not rendered frames. Performance drops usually come from what the camera is looking at, such as large builds or heavy shaders, not from the path length itself.
