How to Stop Note Block Sounds From Doubling or Echoing

Why You Hear Doubled Notes

Without this mod, a note block click sends a packet to the server, and the server tells every nearby client to play the sound. With the mod installed, your own client plays the sound instantly — but the server may still send its own copy back to you, producing a short echo or a doubled hit. The mod's sound filtering is meant to suppress that duplicate, but it only works if the mod is actually the one handling playback.

Steps to Fix It

1. Confirm the mod is loaded and active for your client profile — if it silently failed to load, you get vanilla behavior plus no filtering.

2. Check your sound settings: if you have increased the number of simultaneous sound channels or are running another audio mod, filtering can be bypassed. Temporarily disable other audio mods to test.

3. On a server, ask whether the server has any note block plugin that re-broadcasts sounds. Server-side re-broadcast plus client-side playback is the most common cause of doubling.

4. If you only hear doubling in multiplayer and not singleplayer, the duplicate is coming from the server packet — that is exactly what the filter is for, so verify the mod version matches your game version.

5. Test with a single note block in an empty area, away from other players, so you can isolate the source of the second sound.
