How to Reduce Lag From Large Note Block Music Machines
Where the Lag Comes From
Big note block builds fire many notes in a short time. Each note normally involves a server packet and a server-side sound broadcast, which piles up and causes stutter, especially with many players nearby. The mod moves playback to your client and filters out the redundant server sounds.
Practical Steps
1. Install the mod on your own client first. This alone removes the delay you personally feel when triggering notes.
2. If you run the server, encourage players who gather around music builds to install it too — the server still sends note packets to clients that do not have the mod, so the server load is only reduced when clients handle their own audio.
3. Avoid stacking multiple sound sources on the same tick where possible. Even with the mod, a machine that fires dozens of notes on one redstone tick can overwhelm the client's sound channels.
4. Spread notes across ticks using repeaters or a clock rather than firing everything simultaneously; the mod makes each note instant but cannot make an overloaded client play unlimited simultaneous sounds.
5. If you still get stutter, lower your sound category volume or reduce the number of note blocks audible at once by spacing the build out — fewer overlapping sounds means less client work.
6. Remember the mod fixes audio lag, not redstone lag. If the machine itself runs slowly, that is a separate redstone/server-tick problem.
