Using Advancement Links to Learn a New Mod's Progression

Turn a notification into a learning moment

When you gain an advancement from a mod you have not explored, the chat notification is a free entry point into that mod's advancement tree. Click the advancement name in chat, and the Advancement window opens on that entry within its mod's tab. From there you can read the description and see the structure of that mod's goals.

Trace prerequisites and next steps

On the opened tab, follow the connecting lines. Entries above/behind your current one are the prerequisites you already satisfied, which tells you what early steps that mod expected. Entries below/ahead are the next objectives, which tells you what to aim for. This is a fast way to understand a mod's intended progression order without reading external docs.

Build a mental map of the pack

Repeat this each time you earn an advancement from an unfamiliar mod. Over time, clicking notifications and reading the surrounding trees builds a mental map of which mods you are progressing in and what each one wants next. The mod effectively turns every advancement you earn into a guided tour of the relevant part of the pack's advancement screen.
