Clickable Advancements Mod FAQ
17 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I use Clickable Advancements?
Just play normally — when you earn an advancement, its name appears in chat as a clickable link. Click the advancement name in the chat message to open the Advancement window directly to that advancement.
Why can't I click the advancement in chat?
Make sure you're clicking the advancement name itself, not the surrounding text. If clicking does nothing, check that the mod is actually loaded and that another chat-modifying mod isn't stripping the click event from the message.
Does clicking the advancement open the right tab automatically?
Yes — clicking the chat message jumps straight to the tab and advancement you just earned, so you don't have to scroll through every mod's tab to find it.
Can I click advancements from other players on a server?
Yes, advancement messages from other players are clickable too, so you can see exactly which mod and which advancement they just got without asking them.
How do I find out which mod an advancement came from?
Click the advancement link in chat — the Advancement window opens on the correct tab, and the tab itself tells you which mod the advancement belongs to.
Does this work with modpacks that have hundreds of mods?
Yes, that's the main use case. Instead of scrolling through every advancement tab, you click the chat message and land directly on the relevant advancement.
Will Clickable Advancements work with other chat mods?
It generally works alongside chat mods, but mods that rewrite or reformat chat messages can break the clickable link. If clicking stops working, test with other chat mods disabled to find the conflict.
Does it affect performance or FPS?
No — it only adds a click event to advancement chat messages, so it has no meaningful impact on performance.
Can I disable the clickable behavior?
The mod is designed to be unobtrusive; if you don't want to click, simply ignore the message. Check the mod's config for options if you want to change how notifications behave.
Why does the advancement window open but show nothing?
This usually means the advancement belongs to a mod whose tab isn't loaded or is hidden by another mod. Make sure the mod that owns the advancement is still installed and enabled.
How do I open the advancement window from chat?
Click directly on the advancement name inside the chat message you received when you earned it. The Advancement window opens on the correct tab with that advancement highlighted, so you don't have to search for it manually.
Does this mod work on servers, or only in singleplayer?
It's a client-side mod, so it works wherever you play as long as it's installed on your client. On a server you still receive the advancement chat messages, and the mod turns them into clickable links locally.
Do I need to install this on the server as well?
No, the mod runs on your client and only changes how you interact with chat messages you already receive. Installing it server-side isn't required for the clickable links to work for you.
Will this mod conflict with other chat mods?
It generally coexists with chat mods because it only adds click behavior to advancement messages, but a mod that heavily reformats or replaces chat output can break the links. If clicking stops working after adding another chat mod, that mod is the likely cause.
Does it hurt performance in a big modpack?
No, it only reacts to advancement chat messages and doesn't scan or load advancement tabs in the background. The performance cost is negligible even in packs with hundreds of mods.
Can I use it to explore a mod I've never played before?
Yes, clicking an advancement takes you straight to that mod's tab, where you can browse its other advancements and see the progression path. It's a quick way to get oriented in an unfamiliar mod without hunting through the full advancement screen.
Why does clicking open the wrong tab or nothing at all?
This usually happens when the advancement message was altered by another mod or the server, so the mod can't match it to a real advancement. If the advancement was granted by a datapack or a mod that doesn't register a proper tab, there may be nothing to open.
