How to See Clearly Underwater While Diving and Mining
What the Mod Changes
When your head enters water, vanilla Minecraft draws a thick blue fog over the screen that gets denser the deeper you go. This mod removes that fog so you can see the actual terrain, ores, and mobs around you. Nothing is added to your inventory and no keybind is required — the effect is automatic once the mod is loaded.
Diving in Practice
1. Enter any body of water and look around. The blue overlay should be gone, replaced by normal visibility that fades only with actual light level.
2. Bring a light source. Because the fog is gone, darkness is now your only limit — torches, glowstone, or a Night Vision effect will let you see far further than vanilla allows.
3. Use this for ocean monument raids, shipwreck looting, and cave diving. You can now spot guardians, drowned, and chests before they are on top of you.
4. Combine with Respiration or a Water Breathing potion so you can stay down long enough to actually use the extra vision.
Tips
- The fog removal does not change mob spawning or damage — you still take drowning damage normally.
- If you also run a shader pack, check that its underwater fog setting is not overriding the mod.
- Mining underwater (sand, gravel, clay) is much safer now because you can see cave-ins and drops before you fall into them.
