Clear Water Lava PowderSnow Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn the clear vision on?
The mod works automatically once it is installed, so there is nothing to toggle. Just enter water, lava, or powder snow and the fog will be cleared for you.
Does this mod work in singleplayer and on servers?
It works in singleplayer and on any server, because it only changes the fog rendering on your own client. You do not need the server to have the mod installed.
Why can I still see fog in lava?
Make sure the mod is actually loaded and that no other mod or resource pack is overriding fog rendering. Some shader packs and fog-altering mods can take priority over this one.
Does it clear fog in powder snow too?
Yes, the mod clears the thick white overlay you normally get when your head is inside powder snow. You will be able to see the terrain and blocks around you while moving through it.
Will this mod work with shaders?
It can, but shaders often control their own fog, so the effect may be weaker or overridden depending on the shader pack. If the fog returns with shaders on, check your shader's water and lava fog settings.
Is this mod safe to use on servers?
Yes, it is a client-side visual mod and does not give you any gameplay advantage like x-ray or reach. It only removes fog, so it is generally allowed on servers.
Does it affect my FPS or performance?
The mod is very lightweight because it only changes fog rendering, so performance impact is minimal. If you notice lag, it is more likely coming from shaders or other visual mods running alongside it.
Can I use this mod with OptiFine or Sodium?
Yes, it is designed to work alongside common performance mods. If fog behaves strangely, check that your performance mod's fog or clear water settings are not conflicting.
Does it remove fog in the Nether or other dimensions?
It targets fog while you are inside water, lava, or powder snow, not general biome or dimension fog. So it will help when you are submerged in lava in the Nether, but it will not remove the Nether's overall haze.
Why does the fog come back after I install another mod?
Another mod is likely overriding fog rendering and taking priority. Try removing or reordering the conflicting fog or visual mod, or check its config for a clear water or clear lava option.
