CleanView Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn CleanView on or off?
CleanView is enabled by default, so it's already working when you install it. To toggle it, open your Controls settings, find the Miscellaneous category, and assign a keybind to the CleanView toggle — no key is bound by default, so you have to set one yourself before you can switch it in-game.
Why isn't there a default key for CleanView?
The mod intentionally leaves the toggle unbound so it doesn't conflict with other mods or your existing controls. You need to go into Options > Controls > Miscellaneous and assign a key manually the first time you want to use it.
Does CleanView remove the potion effect itself or just the particles?
It only removes the swirling particle visuals from your screen. The potion effect still applies to your character exactly as normal — you keep the speed, strength, regeneration, or whatever the effect does.
Will CleanView hide particles from other players' potions too?
Yes. CleanView removes potion particles from any camera entity, which includes your own view of other players and mobs affected by potions. The particles still exist for anyone not running the mod.
I toggled CleanView but particles are still showing — what's wrong?
Check that you actually pressed the key you assigned in Miscellaneous controls, since an unbound key does nothing. Also confirm the particles you're seeing are potion particles and not something else like beacon, portal, or ambient particles, which CleanView does not touch.
Does CleanView work on servers, or is it client-side only?
It's a client-side mod, so it works on any server without needing to be installed server-side. Other players won't see any difference, and you won't get kicked for using it.
Can I use CleanView with other particle-removing or performance mods?
Yes, it generally coexists fine with performance mods and other particle tweaks since it only targets potion particles. If another mod already hides all particles, CleanView becomes redundant but won't cause conflicts.
Is CleanView useful for PvP or recording?
Absolutely — it clears the visual clutter from potion effects during fights and recordings, so you can see your screen and your footage stays clean. The effects still work, so you don't lose any gameplay advantage.
Does CleanView affect performance or FPS?
It's a lightweight mod that only suppresses potion particle rendering, so it can slightly help performance rather than hurt it. Any FPS gain is small since potion particles are a minor rendering cost.
Will CleanView hide the particles I see when I drink a potion?
Yes. Once the effect is active on your character, the swirling particles around your view are removed. You'll still see the drinking animation and the effect icon in your HUD.
