Fix: the enchanted golden apple recipe isn't working

If you've put the ingredients in the grid and nothing appears, go through this checklist.

Check the basics

1. Use a crafting table. The recipe needs all nine slots, so the 2x2 inventory grid can't do it.

2. Apple in the centre. The classic recipe puts one apple in the middle with the gold blocks around it.

3. Eight real gold blocks. Make sure they are blocks of gold. Gold ingots, nuggets, ore, raw gold blocks and gold-coloured decorative blocks won't work.

4. A normal apple. A golden apple isn't a substitute for the apple.

5. No extra items. Leave any other slot empty.

• Open the recipe book and search for the enchanted golden apple. If it shows a recipe, click it to auto-fill the grid with the correct layout.
• If you use a recipe viewer mod, look up the enchanted golden apple and compare its layout to yours.
• If another mod or datapack changes golden apple recipes, it may override or conflict with the classic one. Try disabling it to find out.
• Check that the mod is actually loaded in your mod list. If the recipe is absent from the recipe viewer, the mod isn't active in that world.
