How to Choose the Right Shape and Radius for a Chunky Task
Square vs Circle
Chunky lets you generate in a square or a circle around your center. A square covers more area for the same radius and is easier to tile when you run several tasks side by side. A circle avoids generating corners you may never visit, which saves time if your play area is roughly round.
Picking a Radius
Think about how far you actually travel from the center. A radius that only covers your base will still leave stutter when you venture out. A larger radius costs more time up front but means smooth travel over a wider region. There is no single correct number — match it to your playstyle and how much time you are willing to let the task run.
Tiling Multiple Tasks
If you use several tasks, place their centers so the shapes overlap slightly. Gaps between tasks mean ungenerated terrain you will hit later. Overlap is cheap compared to a gap.
Adjusting After the Fact
If you realize the radius was too small, start an additional task centered further out rather than redoing the first. If it was too large and is taking too long, you can pause or cancel and restart with a smaller radius. Check the reported chunk rate and ETA to judge whether the size is reasonable before committing.
