Manage Mob Density in Your Farm or Spawner

How Mob Limits Work Per Chunk

Chunk Shield Plugin caps the number of normal mobs and animals allowed in a single chunk. This prevents mob farms and spawners from creating lag by overcrowding one area.

Designing Around Mob Limits

1. Spread your farm across multiple chunks: Build your mob farm so that collection areas, breeding pens, and spawning zones occupy different chunks.

2. Use chunk borders strategically: Place walls or fences along chunk boundaries to naturally separate mob groups.

3. Create multiple smaller farms instead of one massive farm in a single chunk.

4. Monitor your current mob count: Watch for signs that a chunk is reaching capacity—mobs may stop spawning or existing ones may be removed.

Tips for Efficient Farming

  • Breeding farms: Keep breeding pairs in one chunk, but move offspring to a separate chunk before they mature.
  • Spawner setups: If using a mob spawner, position the collection area in an adjacent chunk.
  • Animal farms: Distribute your cows, sheep, or chickens across 2–3 chunks to stay under limits while maintaining good breeding rates.

This approach keeps your farm productive without triggering cleanup cycles.
