Chunk Shield Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know if Chunk Shield is working on my server?
Check your server logs for Chunk Shield startup messages when the server boots. You can also test by placing heavy blocks or spawning mobs in one chunk—if they're rejected or limited, the plugin is active and enforcing its rules.
Why are my minecarts disappearing or not moving?
Chunk Shield limits how many minecarts can exist close together to prevent lag. If you're hitting that limit, spread your minecarts across different chunks or increase the distance between them.
Can I keep my named pets safe from being deleted?
Yes—any mob with a custom name tag is protected from entity cleanup by default. Name your pets using a name tag and they won't be removed when the server cleans up excess entities.
My mob farm stopped working. What happened?
Chunk Shield limits how many mobs can gather in one area to prevent lag spikes. If your farm exceeds the mob density limit for that chunk, new mobs won't spawn or will be removed—consider spreading your farm across multiple chunks.
Do I need to configure anything when I first install this?
No—Chunk Shield works out of the box with sensible defaults that protect your server without requiring setup. You can adjust settings later if needed, but it's designed to run without configuration.
Will this mod affect vanilla gameplay or break my builds?
Chunk Shield only enforces limits on things that cause lag—it won't change how blocks work, how crafting works, or how normal gameplay feels. Your builds stay exactly as they are unless they're actively causing server performance problems.
Can I place as many heavy blocks as I want if I spread them across different chunks?
Yes—Chunk Shield only limits heavy blocks within a single chunk. Spreading your blocks across multiple chunks lets you build as much as you want without hitting the per-chunk limit.
Why are my boats piling up and not working properly?
Chunk Shield enforces a distance limit on boats to prevent them from clustering and causing lag. Make sure your boats have enough space between them, or move them to different areas of your base.
Does this plugin slow down my server or add lag itself?
No—Chunk Shield is designed to run quietly in the background with minimal performance impact. It actually reduces server lag by preventing the lag machines and entity spam that would otherwise crash your server.
What happens if I try to place a block or spawn a mob that exceeds the limit?
The action is blocked or rejected—the block won't place, or the mob won't spawn. You'll need to remove some existing heavy blocks or mobs from that chunk before you can add more.
