How to Use a Chunk Loader to Keep a Farm or Machine Running While You're Away

Placing the Loader

Craft the chunk loader tier you need and place it in the chunk you want kept loaded. The loader keeps the chunk it sits in active even when no player is nearby, which is what lets crops grow, mobs spawn, and machines tick while you are elsewhere in the world or offline on a server.

Place the loader directly on or next to the machine or farm you care about, not in a neighbouring chunk. A common mistake is putting the loader at the edge of a build and assuming it covers the whole thing — it does not. Each loader only affects its own chunk unless it is a tier that explicitly loads a wider area.

Choosing the Right Tier

  • Single Chunk Loader: keeps one chunk loaded. Good for a single machine or a small crop plot.
  • Basic Chunk Loader: a step up, useful when you need a slightly larger footprint.
  • Advanced Chunk Loader: for bigger setups where several chunks need to stay active.
  • Ultimate Chunk Loader: the largest coverage, meant for sprawling bases or multi-machine factories.

Match the tier to the number of chunks your build actually spans. Overloading with a huge tier wastes resources; under-sizing means part of your farm stops ticking.

Verifying It Works

If crops advanced, furnaces finished, or mobs spawned, the loader is doing its job. If nothing changed, see the troubleshooting guide.
