How to Get Started with the Chisel: Crafting the Tool and Chisel Table
Crafting the Chisel Tool
The chisel is the core item of the mod. Craft it from a stick plus a metal ingot (iron works for the basic chisel). Once you hold it, you can cycle through block variants by right-clicking placed blocks or by using the chisel's built-in interface.
Using the Chisel Table
The Chisel Table (sometimes called the chisel bench) is where you convert one block into another variant without placing it in the world. Place the table, right-click it to open its GUI, put your source block in the input slot, and pick a variant from the scrolling list on the right. The output slot gives you the chiseled version. This is faster than placing and rechiseling blocks one at a time.
Practical Tips
- Carry a stack of the base block (e.g. Andesite) so you can convert on demand.
- The chisel tool itself has a mode toggle; check the tooltip or keybind to switch between single-block and area modes.
- Most decorative variants are cosmetic only — they keep the same hardness and blast resistance as the source block, so they are safe to use structurally.
- If a variant looks wrong, chisel it again; the chisel cycles rather than destroys.
