ChicknTurtle’s Better Shield Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Does this pack work with my shield that has a banner on it?
Yes, the pack improves how banners appear on shields by making them sharper and less blurry. Your custom banner designs will look cleaner and display at higher quality.
Will the shield still protect me the same way?
The pack is purely visual and doesn't change how shields function in combat—you'll still block the same amount of damage. Only the appearance and position of the shield on your screen are different.
Can I use this with other resource packs?
Yes, but if another pack also modifies shields, you may need to load this pack higher in your resource pack list to see its changes. Test the order if shield visuals don't look right.
Why does my shield look weird in item frames?
Make sure the pack is enabled and loaded. This pack specifically improves how shields display in item frames, so if it's not active, you'll see the default appearance instead.
Does lowering the shield affect my ability to see enemies?
No, lowering the shield's position is the main feature—it lets you see more of the environment in front of you while still blocking attacks normally.
Will this work on servers?
Yes, resource packs are client-side only, so you can use this on any server without needing permission or affecting other players.
How do I know if the pack is actually working?
Hold up your shield and compare the position to vanilla Minecraft—it should sit lower and smaller on your screen. Check your inventory to see if the shield icon is centered in the slot.
Does this pack change anything besides the shield?
No, this pack only modifies shields and how banners appear on them. Everything else in the game looks the same.
Can I use this pack in older Minecraft versions?
Check the pack's compatibility information to see which versions it supports. Resource packs are version-specific, so using one on the wrong version may cause it not to load.
Why does my shield texture look different from the screenshots?
Make sure no other resource packs are overriding this one's textures by checking your load order. Also verify the pack is actually enabled in your resource pack menu.
