How to Enable and Read Timestamps on Chat Messages
Turning Timestamps On
Open the mod's configuration screen from the Mods list (or via its keybind if one is assigned). Locate the timestamp option and enable it. The setting controls whether a time marker is prefixed to each incoming chat line. Once enabled, every new message that arrives in chat will carry a timestamp so you can tell when something was said, which is useful on busy servers where chat scrolls quickly.
Reading and Formatting Them
Timestamps appear inline with the message text. Because all color codes are stripped from player messages before processing, the timestamp itself is what carries the visual distinction — the message body will not retain any §-based coloring from the sender. If the format looks wrong, check the config for the timestamp pattern option; it uses a regular expression pattern that is matched with the find() method under MULTILINE mode, so you can adjust how the time portion is detected and displayed.
Practical Tips
- Keep timestamps on when reviewing server logs pasted into chat.
- If a message seems to be missing its timestamp, it may not match the configured pattern — verify the pattern still fits the server's chat format.
- Advanced tooltips (F3 + H) let you hover config items to see the key name, default value, and a short description, which helps you confirm you edited the right option.
