Build Your First Bond with a Latex Creature

Approach and Pacify

Locate a latex mob in the world and approach it slowly without weapons drawn. Use bare-handed gentle pats to calm its aggression—this works best if Pat Pacification is enabled in your config. Alternatively, offer food by holding it in your hand and letting the mob eat from you. Repeat this process until the mob's hostility decreases and it shows signs of friendliness.

Open the Radial Menu and Interact

Once the mob is calm, open the radial menu (default keybind varies by setup) to access social actions. Select dialogue options to talk with the creature and learn about its personality. Check its relationship status in the menu—you'll see friendship progress indicated visually. Give gifts through the radial menu to accelerate bonding. Continue feeding, petting, and talking over multiple sessions.

Confirm Your Bond

When relationship status reaches a bonded state, the creature will remember you by name and show affection. You can now assign it tasks, give it items to carry, and have it follow you. Named and bonded creatures remain active even on Peaceful difficulty, making them reliable long-term companions.
