Champions Unofficial Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know if a mob is a champion?
Champions look visually different from normal mobs — they typically have a glowing outline, particle effects, or a name tag showing their tier and affixes. You can also check by hovering over them or noticing their increased health bar compared to normal mobs of the same type.
How do I turn off champions or make them less common?
Champion spawn rates are controlled through the mod's config file. You can lower the spawn chance per mob type or disable specific affixes and tiers entirely, which effectively reduces or removes champion encounters.
Why is a champion not dropping loot when I kill it?
Some affixes like Reflective can kill you or your pet instead, and certain champions may despawn or be killed by environmental damage, which can affect drops. Make sure you land the killing blow yourself and that the champion isn't dying to fall damage, fire, or another mob.
How do I deal with a champion that keeps healing?
Champions with the Lively affix regenerate health over time, so you need to deal burst damage faster than they can heal. Using high-damage weapons, potions, or focusing multiple players on one target helps overcome the regeneration.
Can champions spawn in my mob farm?
Yes, champions can spawn anywhere hostile mobs spawn, including mob farms, which can break farm designs or create dangerous situations. You can disable champion spawning in specific dimensions or adjust spawn rates in the config to prevent this.
What's the best way to get legendary tier champions to spawn?
Higher tiers like Legendary have lower spawn weights by default, but you can adjust tier spawn chances in the config. Increasing the overall champion spawn rate and boosting the weight of higher tiers will make Legendary champions appear more often.
Do champions work with other mob mods?
Champions Unofficial Mod generally applies its affixes and tiers to mobs from other mods as long as they extend the vanilla mob classes or are registered as hostile entities. Some heavily customized mobs from other mods may not receive champion status if they don't use standard spawning logic.
Why is my game lagging when champions spawn?
Champions with certain affixes like Infested can spawn additional mobs, and particle-heavy affixes can cause performance drops in large fights. Lowering the champion spawn rate, disabling specific affixes, or reducing particle settings in your client can help.
How do I remove a specific affix from champions?
Affixes can be individually enabled or disabled in the mod's config file. Find the affix list and set the one you want to remove to false or remove it from the allowed affix pool.
Can I make champions drop their gear or special items?
Champions drop better loot than normal mobs by default, including enchanted gear and rare items, but whether they drop their actual equipped items depends on config settings for loot drops. You can adjust loot multipliers and drop rules in the config to increase or change what they drop.
