Using Colored Chalk for Base Labeling and Signage
Planning Your Color Code
Before drawing anything, decide what each color means in your base. A simple scheme works best: one color for storage rooms, one for crafting areas, one for exits, and one for hazards. Because the addon gives you the full Minecraft color palette, you have enough distinct shades to label many zones without repeating.
Marking Rooms and Chests
Stand at the entrance of a room and draw a short colored line or symbol on the doorframe or adjacent wall using the matching chalk. Repeat the same color on the chests inside that room so anyone opening them instantly knows the category. For shared storage halls, draw a colored stripe above each row of chests.
Paths and Wayfinding
- Draw colored dots or dashes along the floor from your main entrance to important rooms.
- Use a different color for each branch so visitors can follow the right trail.
- Mark dead ends and locked doors with a warning color so players do not waste time.
- Refresh faded or overwritten marks after big builds, since new blocks may cover old chalk.
- Keep a spare chalk of every color in a nearby chest so you can extend the system later without recrafting.
