Ceiling Torch Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I place a torch on the ceiling?
Look at the underside of a ceiling block and place the torch while aiming at it, just like you would place a torch on a wall or floor. The torch will attach upside down to that block.
Why won't my torch place on the ceiling?
Make sure you're aiming directly at the bottom face of a solid block with enough space below it for the torch. If you're aiming at the side or top of a block, the torch will place normally instead of upside down.
Does this mod work with redstone torches?
Yes, redstone torches can be placed on the ceiling and they interact with redstone components the same way a regular redstone torch attached to that block would. This makes them useful for hidden or inverted redstone circuits.
Can I use soul torches on the ceiling?
Yes, soul torches are supported alongside normal torches and redstone torches. They place and behave the same way, just with the soul torch's blue flame.
Do modded torches work with this mod?
Many modded torches are supported, so you can often place them upside down the same way as vanilla torches. If a specific modded torch doesn't work, it likely needs its own compatibility handling.
Can I place ceiling torches underwater or in flooded dungeons?
Yes, ceiling torches are great for flooded dungeons and underwater areas since you can attach them to the ceiling of a water-filled room. They light the space without needing floor or wall placement.
How do I remove a ceiling torch?
Break it the same way you would break any torch — punch or mine it. It will drop as a normal torch item you can pick up and reuse.
Do ceiling torches give off the same light level as normal torches?
Yes, a ceiling torch provides the same light as a regular torch, just positioned upside down. Light spreads from the torch's position on the ceiling downward into the room.
Will ceiling torches cause lag or performance issues?
No, ceiling torches are essentially vanilla torches with a different placement orientation, so they don't add meaningful performance overhead. Large numbers of them behave like large numbers of normal torches.
Is this mod compatible with other mods that change torch placement or lighting?
It generally works alongside most mods, but mods that heavily alter torch placement mechanics or block placement rules may conflict. If a torch won't place on the ceiling, check whether another mod is overriding placement behavior.
