How to Change How Often Spiders Become Cave Spiders

Understanding the Chance Value

The mod works by giving naturally spawning spiders a chance to be cave spiders instead of regular ones. This chance is controlled by a config value, and by default it is fairly low, so most spiders you meet underground are still normal spiders. Raising it makes cave spiders more common; lowering it makes them rarer.

Adjusting the Value

1. Open the mod's config file from your config folder.

2. Find the entry that sets the chance a spawned spider is a cave spider.

3. Change the number to a value between 0 and 1. A value of 0 means no spider ever becomes a cave spider; a value of 1 means every spider spawn becomes a cave spider.

4. Save the file and restart Minecraft.

Choosing a Good Setting

If you want a challenging cave experience, push the value higher so poison is a constant threat. If you only want occasional cave spiders, keep it near the default. Because the value is a probability, you will not see an exact ratio in-game — it just shifts how often the conversion happens over many spawns. Test in a large dark area to get a feel for the new frequency.
