How to Check Whether Cave Dust Is Working (Troubleshooting)
Quick Verification Steps
If you installed the mod and see no change, work through these checks in order. Cave Dust only adds particles, so there is nothing to craft — if particles are absent, the cause is almost always environment or settings.
1. Confirm you are in the right biome. Lush caves are intentionally excluded. Go to a plain stone or deepslate cave.
2. Confirm the mod is loaded. Check your mod list in-game. If it does not appear, the file may be in the wrong folder or mismatched with your game version.
3. Raise your particle setting. Set Particles to All in Video Settings. Minimal or Decreased can suppress ambient effects.
4. Test with shaders off. Disable any shader pack temporarily. Some shaders replace or hide vanilla particles.
5. Test in a fresh world. Create a new creative world, dig into a normal cave, and look around. This rules out world-specific issues.
6. Check for conflicts. Other cave or particle mods may override the same particle types. Temporarily disable them to isolate the problem.
What "Working" Looks Like
You should see slow-drifting white ash particles, similar to the basalt delta biome in the Nether, scattered through the cave air. They are subtle, not a thick fog. If you see faint white specks settling in torchlight, the mod is functioning correctly.
