Cataclysm Compat Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to install this separately or does it come with Cataclysm?
This is a separate data pack that works alongside the base Cataclysm mod—you need both installed to use it. The data pack adds compatibility layers without modifying Cataclysm itself, so it loads on top of your existing setup.
Which mods does this pack actually make compatible with Cataclysm bosses?
It adds boss destruction support for blocks from Twigs, Habitat, and Autumnity, and integrates with creature mods like Alex's Mobs. It also works with Endergetic Expansion, Infernal Expansion, and Dungeon Now Loading.
Why do Cataclysm boss attacks sometimes not destroy modded blocks?
Without this pack, bosses only recognize vanilla Minecraft blocks as destructible during their attacks. This data pack registers blocks from compatible mods so bosses can smash through them like they do stone and wood.
What does 'sticky items' mean and which weapons get this?
Sticky items are special weapons and tools from Cataclysm that now attach properly to targets when they hit, instead of bouncing off or behaving unpredictably. This applies to weapons designed to stick in the base mod.
Can I use this pack with just one or two of the listed mods, or do I need all of them?
You only need the mods you actually have installed—the pack includes compatibility for all of them, but only the ones present in your world will be affected. Having extra compatibility data loaded won't cause problems.
Do I need to create a new world or can I add this to an existing one?
You can add this data pack to an existing world at any time; it doesn't require a fresh start. Just enable it in your world settings and the compatibility features will apply going forward.
Will this pack slow down my game or cause lag with all these mods together?
This pack is lightweight and only adds data—it doesn't create new entities or run heavy calculations. Performance impact depends on how many mods you're running total, not on this pack specifically.
What happens if a boss fight takes place in terrain from a mod that isn't on the compatible list?
Bosses will only destroy blocks that are registered in the pack's compatibility data, so unregistered modded blocks will act like they're indestructible. The fight will still work, but the boss won't smash through those specific blocks.
Can I disable certain compatibility features if I don't want them?
Data packs don't have built-in toggles for individual features, but you can remove the pack entirely or replace it with a custom version if you need specific behaviors disabled.
Does this pack work on servers or only single-player worlds?
This data pack works on both single-player and multiplayer servers—just add it to your server's data pack folder like you would for any world.
