Cat Eyes Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on night vision with Cat Eyes Mod?
Press the V key by default to toggle night vision on, and press it again to turn it off. No potion or command is needed, and the effect stays on until you toggle it off.
Why isn't the V key doing anything?
The toggle key may have been changed or is conflicting with another mod's keybind. Check the Controls menu for the Cat Eyes keybind and rebind it to a free key.
Does Cat Eyes Mod work in survival mode?
Yes, the toggle works in survival, creative, and on servers where the mod is allowed. Keep in mind it's effectively a cheat feature, so some servers may consider it against their rules.
How do I stop the Darkness effect in the Deep Dark?
Enable the Darkness immunity option in the Cat Eyes config file. With it on, the Darkness effect no longer blinds you, making Ancient City exploration and Warden encounters much easier.
Does Cat Eyes Mod also remove Blindness?
Yes, there's a separate immunity setting for Blindness in the config file. You can enable or disable each immunity independently depending on what you want.
Where is the Cat Eyes config file?
It's called CatEyes_config.properties and lives in your Minecraft config folder. Open it with a text editor to adjust immunity settings and other options.
Can I change the night vision toggle key?
Yes, go to Options then Controls and find the Cat Eyes keybind, then assign it to whatever key you prefer. This is useful if V conflicts with another mod.
Is Cat Eyes Mod compatible with Optifine and shaders?
Yes, it's compatible with Optifine and Iris, so your shaders and fancy lighting keep working. Night vision still applies while shaders are active.
Does Cat Eyes Mod cause lag or FPS drops?
No, the mod is lightweight since it only toggles a status effect rather than rendering anything extra. Any performance impact comes from your shaders or other mods, not Cat Eyes.
Why does my night vision turn off by itself?
Drinking a Night Vision potion or milk, or dying and respawning, can clear the effect. Just press the toggle key again to re-enable it.
