Cascades Mod introduces underground lakes as a new terrain feature. These water pockets can appear at various depths while mining or caving. Unlike surface water, they're unexpected and potentially dangerous—you could fall into one while strip mining or exploring caves.

Defensive Mining Strategies

When mining downward or horizontally, listen for water sounds and watch for water particles appearing in your line of sight. Mine cautiously in new areas, especially below Y-level 0. Consider placing blocks above your head as you descend to create an escape route. Bring boats or water buckets to manage unexpected water encounters safely.

Exploring Caves Carefully

When caving, stay alert near ceiling areas where underground lakes might form. These lakes can create waterfalls that damage you or sweep you into dangerous situations. If you hear water but don't see it, stop and investigate before proceeding. The smoother terrain transitions mean water features blend more naturally into the landscape, making them less obvious at first glance.
