How to change the throw key from Shift + Q
If Shift + Q is awkward or clashes with another control, you can rebind it in the game's controls.
Steps
1. Open the pause menu and go to Options.
2. Open Controls, then Key Binds.
3. Scroll to the entry for throwing a carried object. It is listed with the Carry On Extend controls. Typing part of the name into the search box, if your menu has one, can speed this up.
4. Click the key button next to it. It will show a prompt such as "> key <".
5. Press the new key or combination you want.
6. Go back and test it. Pick up a block or mob and use your new key.
Avoiding conflicts
- Q is normally the drop-item key, which is why the default is combined with Shift. If you choose a plain key, check that nothing else is bound to it.
- The Key Binds menu highlights conflicting entries, usually in red. Rebind one of them if you see this.
- If you want to go back to the default, use the Reset button beside the entry.
