How to use freecam (/cam) and check latency with /ping

Carpet Extra Extras adds two commands you can enable per world: a camera command and a ping command.

Freecam with /c or /cam

1. Enable the command with /carpet commandCam true. On a server you can restrict who may use it with Carpet's usual permission-level values, if the rule offers them. Tab-complete to see.

2. Run /c or /cam to switch into camera mode. You can then fly around and look at farms, redstone or mob spawning areas from a distance.

3. Run the command again to return to your original position and game mode.

Before you start, stand somewhere safe, because your real body stays behind while you explore. Don't use it with mobs nearby. Don't log out while in camera mode if you can avoid it.

Check your latency with /ping

1. Enable it with /carpet commandPing true.

2. Run /ping to see your connection delay to the server.

This is useful when a pearl cannon or timing-sensitive machine behaves differently for different players. High ping can explain the difference.

Making the commands permanent

Run /carpet setDefault commandCam true and /carpet setDefault commandPing true so the commands stay enabled after a restart.
