How to stack shulker boxes in hoppers, droppers and dispensers

Normally shulker boxes cannot stack, which makes storage and sorting systems awkward. Carpet Extra Extras adds rules that let shulker boxes stack inside containers.

The rules

  • stackableShulkerLimitAllContainers: applies to all containers at once.
  • stackableShulkerLimitHoppers: applies to hoppers only.
  • stackableShulkerLimitDroppers: applies to droppers only.
  • stackableShulkerLimitDispensers: applies to dispensers only.

Each rule takes a number that sets how many shulker boxes may stack. Check the allowed range by tab-completing the command.

Set it up

1. Decide whether you want everything to stack or only certain blocks.

2. Run the rule with a value, for example /carpet stackableShulkerLimitHoppers <number>. Replace <number> with the stack size you want.

3. Put shulker boxes into the hopper, dropper or dispenser and check that they stack.

4. Use /carpet setDefault <rule> <value> to make the setting permanent for the world.

Tips

  • If you are not sure which rule wins when you set both the general rule and a specific one, test it with a few boxes before building a large system.
  • Build and test hopper lines in a small area first. Stack size changes how items move through them, so existing sorters may behave differently.
  • Reset a rule to its default by running /carpet <rule> <default value>, or use /carpet removeDefault <rule>.
